What advice would you share with other founders?
Be aware of one thing: founding a company involves a lot of hard work. Organise your private life so that you can still afford to enjoy it.
What surprised you the most when you started out?
Having a good idea wins you only half of the battle. Convincing other people to believe in your idea takes a lot of time.
What do you want from politics and from Germany as a business location?
More courage, less bureaucracy. You need courage to implement changes and no web of bureaucracy.
Why doesn’t Germany have a leading startup ecosystem?
Germany doesn’t have access to large quantities of capital. Here’s a textbook example: all of our biggest investors come from abroad. I think it has a lot to do with the lack of courage and willingness to take risks. Innovation needs this combination of ingredients to grow and survive.
